Global Future Council on Clean Air: City Solutions

Clean air is essential for our health, yet millions of people around the world are affected by air pollution each year, leading to premature deaths and severe health issues. Vulnerable groups, such as children, the elderly, and those with chronic diseases, are especially at risk. A lack of transparency in data, insufficient political will, and limited funding are often barriers to progress.

Improving air quality is a win for both public health and climate change mitigation. Cities can address multiple challenges by focusing on clean air initiatives, and significant advances have been made over the past decade in monitoring technology, public awareness, and solutions like electric vehicles, clean energy, and air quality policies. Now more than ever, it’s crucial for cities, governments, businesses, and citizens to join forces and expand these efforts.

In this panel discussion hosted by the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Clean Air, experts explore the challenges and opportunities of improving air quality in cities around the world.
