Thailand To Advance LGBTQ Rights Through New Civil Partnership Law

The country’s cabinet has approved the Civil Partnership Bill, but it must now be ratified by Thailand’s National Assembly. The new law could be progress for LGBTQ rights in the country as it makes civil unions legal for anyone over 17, as long as at least one partner is a Thai national. Civil partners will enjoy the same rights as married couples. They will be able to jointly own property, pass on inheritance and adopt children together.
