"The Vjosa river flows from southern Greece through Albania to the Adriatic Sea. It has no dams or power stations along its 270km length hence its designation as a wild river. The Vjosa and its surroundings are rich in biodiversity, home to more than 1,100 species, including 13 animal species and 2 plant species assessed as globally threatened. The Albanian government declared the Vjosa a national park in March 2023. The new park covers 12,700 hectares, including the river itself, plus some of the surrounding land. Watch to learn more about Vjosa, its new National Park, and the biodiversity in the area."
