Dr. Nigina Muntean is a Chief of Innovation and Transfromation at UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund.
As a physician, public health expert, and global innovation executive, Dr. Muntean has led transformative solutions, spanning across 150 countries and territories, and helped redirect millions in funding toward women’s health. She has co-founded multi-partner innovation platforms—like the Equalizer Accelerator Fund, WomenX Collective, and Equity 2030 Alliance—that close gender gaps in science, finance, and technology.

Over 25+ years, Dr. Muntean built a unique portfolio spanning frontline delivery, institutional reform, and global diplomacy. She has advised senior UN leadership, mobilized public–private capital, and led diverse teams to solve complex problems at scale.

Dr. Muntean holds a Medical Diploma with a specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology, PhD in Medicine, as well as MSPH from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
