With the International Organization for Migration (IOM): Regional Representative, Middle East; Regional Representative, South Asia; Regional Migration Management Coordinator, West Asia; and Director, Department of International Cooperation and Partnerships, Geneva.
From January 2013-December 2019 served as Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh; chaired the 9th Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD); independent expert to the UN Committee on the Rights of All Migrants Workers and Members of their Families (CMW) and Member of the Migration Advisory Board, International Organization for Migration (IOM). Has published widely on migration and trafficking related issues. Awards and honours: IOM Director General's Award (2005); Honourable Mention for Robert B. Steward Prize; Dhaka University Chancellor's Award; the Grants Commission Award; and the Chancellor's Gold Medal. Interests include: migration, social development and trade issues.
Co-authored a book on "Migration Myth" Published by Springer in 2020.
