Dong Yeon KIM, inaugurated as Governor of Gyeonggi Province in the Republic of Korea on July 1, 2022, brings more than three decades of public service experience to his role. As a former Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Economy and Finance of Korea, Kim played a key role in shaping national economic policies, overseeing macro/microeconomic and fiscal strategies, taxation, and the national treasury, as well as international finance. His international experience includes collaboration with finance ministers from various countries and organizations, as well as roles at the World Bank and as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar. Now leading Gyeonggi Province, the largest local government in Korea and a prime contributor to Korea's GDP and trade, Kim aims to transform this region into a hub of innovation and opportunity, leveraging its prominence in industries such as semiconductors, IT, mobility, and renewable energy. With a four-year term and an academic background that includes master's and doctoral degrees in public policy from the University of Michigan, Kim is committed to positioning Gyeonggi Province as a global leader in future industries and social economy.
