Juliana Hilliard is Co-Founder of Parallel Bio, where she's building human immune system organoids to replace animal testing in drug development. Before founding Parallel Bio in 2021, Juliana trained in the lab in Vienna, Austria that invented the first organoid. She developed foundational organoid technologies for the brain, which she then applied as an R&D lead for Herophilus (née System1 Biosciences). The organoid platform she helped build was used to discover novel neurological disease targets, and then was acquired by Genentech in 2023. Juliana holds an MSc in molecular bioengineering from the Technical University, Dresden, and a BS from Virginia Tech.
