Jens Burchardt is a Partner and Associate Director at the Berlin office and a member of BCG's Energy, IG and Social Impact practices. He is BCG's global expert on climate impact and low-emission technologies.
Since joining the firm in 2010, Jens’ work has focused mostly on helping companies prepare for challenges and opportunities in the low-carbon economy. He has led numerous projects on climate strategy, emission reduction and the energy transition for clients in energy, industry and the public sector, including one of the most comprehensive assessments of national emission reduction potential ever developed. He has also worked extensively on assessing future potentials and winning strategies for low-carbon technologies such as hydrogen, power-to-x and CCUS.
Jens is the author of several landmark BCG publications on climate change, the energy transition and related topics, which have regularly been cited in national and international media. He is also a regular speaker on climate change, emission abatement and carbon policy—for German and European policymakers, several government commissions, senior management workshop and industry events.
Jens holds a doctorate degree in Finance from European Business School (EBS) and master-level degrees from both EBS and the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business (University of Pittsburgh). Prior to his tenure with BCG, he worked in university development and as a research associate at European Business School (EBS), Oestrich-Winkel. He also gained work experience through internships with various industrial and professional services firms, including Daimler AG in Pretoria, South Africa, and Commerzbank's asset management division in Frankfurt am Main.
