Chief Executive Officer and Board Member, Commercial International Bank (CIB)

Mr. Hisham Ezz Al-Arab was reappointed CEO of Commercial International Bank (CIB) – Egypt in September 2024. With over 40 years of international banking experience across Europe, Middle East and Africa, he served as CIB’s Chairman (2023–2024), and as its Chairman and MD (2002–2020), during which he transformed CIB into Egypt’s largest private-sector bank, increasing its market capitalization from EGP 1 bn pounds to over EGP 250 bn pounds. Under his leadership, CIB pioneered digital transformation, sustainability, gender equality, and regional expansion into East Africa through the acquisition of CIB Kenya.
He founded and chairs the CIB Foundation, which has serving healthcare access for over 7 million underprivileged children across Egypt. He serves on IIF & EMAC Boards, Washington. Has served as board member in the AUC, GIG, GB Capital and Fairfax Africa.
Earned numerous global accolades, including Global Finance’s Lifetime Achievement Award (2025), MEED’s CEO of the Year (2025) and African Banker’s Lifetime Achievement Award (2023).
Before joining CIB in 1999 as Deputy Managing Director, he held senior roles in London at Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, and JP Morgan.
