Fumikazu Kitagawa

Partner, Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting

Fumikazu has been a partner of the Tohmatsu Consulting LLC practice of Deloitte Japan (Asia Pacific) since 2016. Currently he is leading Smart X lab., which focuses on new generation consulting areas. In particular, Smart X lab. is focusing Smart City, Smart Finance, Smart Mobility and GX/ Sustainability agendas. All agendas are required for building ecosystem and digital implementation. He is building all capabilities to provide these services to professionals of Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting LLC. Prior to his current role, Fumikazu was a leader of financial industry consulting division. He has been dedicated to developing consulting business to financial sector for 3 years and has meaningful and strong relationships among financial sector’s CXOs.
Additionally, Fumikazu is leading Global Smart City Consulting Advisory Services practice and the Smart City Alliance work among Deloitte Global Smart City professionals. He has been the Engagement Lead for Deloitte’s Smart City Alliance with the World Economic Forum and their C4IR Japan office for the past two years.
Prior to Deloitte, Fumikazu was a Head of Industrial Sectors of an investment banking firm. He led a large M&A and financing among global industrial sectors. He has many established relationships among industrial sectors over his 30 year career as industrial professional consultant and investment banker.
He is a lecturer of Keio University on theory of mobility industry development to cities and regions. Along with other lecturers and professors has published Smart X Society, 2023 from Toyo-Keizai. And has authored the “Strategy for getting out from Globalization, 2010 by Toyo-Keizai.”
Fumikazu holds a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics from University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.A in Agricultural Economics from Hokkaido University. He is a member of the Autonomous Driving Business Working Group led by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation.
