Elizabeth Donnelly is the Africa programme’s assistant head and research fellow with a focus on West Africa’s politics. She joined Chatham House in 2006, and was formerly the manager of the Africa Programme. She has written on Nigeria’s politics and Japan’s development policies in Africa. She co-authored The Effects of Oil Companies’ Activities on the Environment, Health and Development in sub-Saharan Africa, a report for the European Parliament Committee on Development. She has lived and worked in Asia and Africa and regularly conducts research in Nigeria, and has accompanied UK parliamentary delegations on visits to the country.
