Climber and visual storyteller. Early career spanned controlled and complex studio to the wild and remote corners of the world, from the unclimbed peaks of Antarctica to the Himalaya of Nepal and Pakistan, all in an attempt to capture not only the soul of adventure and exploration but also the beauty inherent in modern society. Photography has addressed larger geopolitical and socioeconomic issues as well as environment and climate change. As National Geographic Photographer Fellow and contributor to National Geographic Magazine, has worked on nine feature articles in the past five years, most recently in Angola, Namibia, and Botswana documenting the source of the Okavango Delta. Named National Geographic Adventurer of the Year (2012), for the first winter ascent of Gasherbrum II in Pakistan, an 8,000 metre peak. The only American to have climbed any 8,000 metre peak in winter and 9th American to climb Everest without the use of oxygen.
