Prior to 1998, worked at the IMF on financial sector issues and bank restructuring strategies in Emerging Europe, Latin America and Asia, as well as in Nordic countries. 1998-2001, Chief Economist, Emerging European Markets, ABN AMRO Investment Bank, London. 2001-2004, Vice-President, Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency of Turkey, appointed following the major banking crisis of February 2001. During 2004-2015 worked at the IMF; last position was Deputy Director at the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the IMF, where she oversaw the work on financial sector regulation and supervision, and crisis prevention and management. Managed the Fund’s work on the global regulatory reform agenda and led the Financial Sector Assessment Programs, including for the United Kingdom (2011) and Spain (2012). Between August 2008 and February 2010, Dr. Pazarbasioglu was the mission chief for Ukraine. Prior to this position, her main focus was on banking restructuring and crisis management issues. Joined the Bank in July 2015, as Senior Adviser and Global Lead for the Finance and Markets Global Practice and is the Senior Director in the Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation Global Practice, World Bank Group since June 2017. She joined the Bank in July 2015, as Senior Adviser and Global Lead for the Finance and Markets Global Practice.
