The “No-Excuse” Framework to Accelerate the Path to Net-Zero Manufacturing and Value Chains

While many companies have started their journey towards achieving net-zero emissions, no company can manage the transformation of its manufacturing facilities and value chains alone if both individual and collective targets are to be achieved. While many companies have started their journey towards achieving net-zero emissions, no company can manage the transformation of its manufacturing facilities and value chains alone if both individual and collective targets are to be achieved. Systemic collaboration across and between value chains is fundamental to align and upgrade corporate strategies and industrial policies.

In this context, the World Economic Forum launched the Industry Net Zero Accelerator initiative in collaboration with Cambridge Industrial Innovation Policy (Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge), Capgemini, Rockwell Automation and Siemens. As the initiative’s first output, this White Paper proposes a framework based on 10 action pillars to help shape strategic engagement with supply chain and operating officers and encourage business collaboration in achieving net zero. The paper highlights real-world examples of collaborative initiatives and strategies.
