We need to empower teachers to become agents of change in their communities.

Problem statement

There is an insufficient technical training of primary education teaching staff for the early identification of cases of violence against children.

Target group

School teaching staff of schools in Paraná.

Proposed Solution

Develop and offer an online interdisciplinary training course for public primary education school teaching staff in Curitiba. The course will be taught by professionals from the legal, health, and psychological fields, aiming to promote dialogue, share practical tools, and equip educators to identify and respond appropriately to signs of violence against children.

Hub Activities

  • Recruit professionals with expertise in child protection, law, health, and psychology to develop the course content.

  • Design an accessible and engaging online course, including recorded video lessons, supporting materials, and interactive activities.

  • Coordinate the recording and editing of video lessons with technical partners.

  • Partner with the GRPCOM Institute to host and disseminate the course through their online platform.

  • Use platform analytics and participant surveys to monitor reach, satisfaction, and learning outcomes. Continuously review and update course content based on feedback and new developments in the field.

Short-Term Goals

  • Diagnose the current state of support systems in schools for preventing and addressing child violence in Curitiba.

  • Record the interdisciplinary online course with contributions from legal, health, and psychological professionals.

  • Publish the course on the GRPCOM Institute’s online platform, making it freely accessible to public school educators.

  • Promote the course within the municipal education network to encourage widespread participation.

  • Monitor teacher engagement and learning progress through online platform tools and participant feedback.

  • Provide feedback reports to assess the course’s effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

  • Achieve greater preparedness among educators to identify and appropriately respond to signs of child violence.

Long-Term Goals

  • Map and engage with public policy channels related to child protection to improve alignment between schools and public services.

  • Produce a detailed impact assessment report based on course participation and outcomes.

  • Expand access to the course to institutions in surrounding cities and regions.

Available Metrics

  • Number of teachers enrolled in the course

  • Course completion rate

  • Geographical reach (number of impacted school districts)

  • Number of students taught by trained educators

  • Net Promoter Score (NPS) based on participant feedback

  • Improvement in teacher-reported confidence and knowledge before and after the course
