Yasushi Akahoshi

President, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO)

LLB, University of Tokyo; attended the International Career Associates Program, School of International Relations and Pacific Studies (IR/PS), University of California, San Diego. 1987, began government service, Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI, later METI after 2001). Career spanning a wide range of public policy positions focused on international political-economy affairs, including those involving WTO and FTA issues, as well as several principal posts at the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy. 2004-07, stationed at JETRO Singapore Centre as Regional Representative of METI for Asia. 2011-15, Minister, Embassy of Japan in the United States of America, in charge of diplomatic issues related to the economy, trade, industry and energy. October 2015, became President, JETRO.
