It is in this vein that throughout his career at the Bank, Tamer has been extremely passionate about addressing the climate change crisis from a health sector perspective., as well as other global environmental health challenges. In 2019, he established the Health – Climate, Environment and Disasters (HCED) program – which he currently leads – with the aim to address health vulnerabilities from climate change, environment, and disasters to ensure environmental sustainability and climate-smart healthcare measures are integrated into World Bank investments. In his current role as the Climate and Health Global Team Lead, Tamer leads the World Bank’s efforts in the climate-health nexus to maximize climate co-benefits (through adaptation and mitigation action), deliver global public goods, and forge global partnerships including with the private sector and civil society organizations.
