Shimer has more than 15 years of experience in international affairs and impact building areas. She had served as the Senior Advisor at United Nations Global Compact and led the global program of Sustainable Infrastructure for the Belt and Road Initiative to Accelerate the SDGs Action Platform.
Prior to her role at United Nations Global Compact, Shimer was with the World Economic Forum, managing three foundations initiated by the World Economic Forum, Global Shapers Community, Young Global Leaders and the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship in Greater China and Northeast Asia region. Shimer started her career as a journalist and producer with Shanghai Media Group.
Shimer was selected as a Young Political Leader fellow by All China Youth Federation and American Young Political Leader Council in 2019. She also served as the Founding Curator of World Economic Forum Global Shapers Community in 2013.
Shimer receives her Master of Law, International Relations from Peking University, and Bachelor of Arts, Asian Studies from University of Sydney. She is also a candidate in Master of Philosophy in Peking University.
