Maui Hudson

Associate Professor and Director, Te Kotahi Research Institute, University of Waikato

My tribal affiliations to Iwi in Aotearoa New Zealand are primarily with Whakatohea, Ngaruahine and Ngapuhi. My formal academic training was in physiotherapy and ethics before moving into research. My initial focus was on the interface between traditional knowledge and science across multiple domains before focusing on Indigenous Data Sovereignty. I am a founding member of Te Mana Raraunga Maori Data Sovereignty Network and the Global Indigenous Data Alliance. I co-authored the CARE principles for Indigenous Data Governance, am a Co-Director of Local Contexts, and Co-Developer of Biocultural Labels.
