Barrister, specialising in human rights law and family law. Member of legal team which represented 15,000 members of Ogoni community v. Shell (Nigeria) in English High Court (settled in 2015). Named UK Family Law Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year in 2013 for international human rights advocacy leading to a State apology and €58m redress scheme for women incarcerated and forced into unpaid labour in Ireland's 'Magdalene Laundries' between 1922 and 1996. Currently legal director of the 'Clann Project', involving evidence-gathering and advocacy regarding the treatment of unmarried mothers and their children in 20th century Ireland. Currently also pursuing PhD at Birmingham Law School on the right of older persons to freedom from torture and ill-treatment. Graduated from Harvard Law School (LLM 2010) and University College Dublin (BCL 2009). Previously worked for international women's rights organisation, Equality Now.
