She holds a degree in advertising and marketing from PUC-RIO, a master's in Ethnic-Racial Relations from CEFET-RJ, and a postgraduate degree in marketing from IED-RIO. As a CAPES scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she specialized in race, ethnicity, and media studies. Genot has also authored three influential books, including a Jabuti Prize finalist.
