Linwei Ma, PhD, is the Tenured Associate Professor, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Energy and Power Engineering, Tsinghua University. He is the Director of Tsinghua-Rio Tinto Joint Research Centre for Resources, Energy and Sustainable Development; Deputy Director of Climate Change and Carbon Neutral Strategy Research Center, Institute of Carbon Neutralization, Tsinghua University; Director of the Energy Strategy and Energy Internet Center of the State Key Laboratory of Power System; Vice President of the Beijing Energy and Environment Society; Member of PCR expert committee of EPD platform of China Iron and Steel Industry Association.
His main research area is strategy of sustainable development and system engineering of energy and mineral resources, including strategy, system analysis theory and method, Sankey diagram, and technical and economic analysis of national & regional mineral resources and energy development. He has led or co-led more than 30 national and international research projects, including the energy development strategy research programs supported by National Energy Administration of China (NEA), Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), BP, GM, Rio Tinto, CNOOC, State Grid Corporation of China, CGN (China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd.), and so on. At present, he is the leader of the research project "Metal Carbon Neutralization", which is supported by Tsinghua - Rio Tinto Centre and conducted by a team of 10 professors from 6 schools and departments of Tsinghua University. He has been awarded the first prize of Sichuan’s Science and Technology Award for his contributions to the theory, method, and application of effective control of energy growth.
