Julia Thompson

defense analyst, RAND Corporation

Julia Thompson is a defense analyst at RAND. Her recent research has focused on crisis management, South Asian security, and nuclear and conventional deterrence. Prior to joining RAND, Thompson was a research associate at the Stimson Center, where she focused on terrorism, militancy, and emerging nuclear technologies and doctrines. She has co-edited two volumes of essays on deterrence stability in South Asia, and one volume on anti-satellite weapons, deterrence, and Sino-American space relations. She previously interned at the National Defense University's Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS), and for a consultancy providing analytical, strategic, financial, and market research support for clients in the aerospace, defense, and government services industries.
