Juan José Mendez

Secretary of Transportation and Public Works, Secretariat of Transportation of the City of Buenos Aires

Juan José Mendez, who graduated with a degree in Economics from the Universidad Católica Argentina, is the Secretary of Transportation and Public Works for the City of Buenos Aires. With previous experience as an entrepreneur, in 2010 he began working in the public sector, initially as a Communications and Public Affairs Adviser and later as Chief of Staff for Traffic and Transport during Guillermo Dietrich’s administration. As part of the team that implemented the Sustainable Mobility Plan, he received formal recognition by way of the “Sustainable Transport Award 2014”. The principal objectives of the plan are: to encourage the use of public transport, promote a healthy mobility and reduce the number of road traffic incidents due to a change in infrastructure, technology, education and citizen participation.
In his representative position within the City, Juan José Mendez is director of the Metropolitan Agency of Transport, whose mission is to develop public political policies in conjunction with the national and provincial government, in order to improve mobility in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires.
