Deng Jie is an inaugural Schwarzman scholar in Tsinghua University. She has demonstrated a passion for social governance within the application of big-data modeling to public policy making. Her research focuses on carbon emission and energy statistic. She co-founded a daily newsletter called “Mingbai” (see www.getmingbai.com) with a Denmark scholar during her time as a Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University. The newsletter bridges cultural knowledge gaps by educating readers on topics that are common knowledge for Chinese people, but virtually unknown to people outside of China, even those who study Chinese. Jie received dual degrees in Chemistry and Applied Psychology from Nankai University.
