James Longman is the Chief International correspondent for ABC News, known for his coverage of global conflicts and human rights issues. He has reported from over 60 countries, including conflict zones in Ukraine, Syria and Israel and won multiple awards, including News Emmys for his climate crisis and Ukraine reporting. Longman has also received a David Bloom Award for his investigative work on LGBTQ+ abuses in Chechnya. His book, The Inherited Mind, was published in January 2025 and examined the genetics of mental illness and James’s own family history. Prior to ABC, he worked as a Beirut correspondent for the BBC and began his career reporting undercover in Syria. Longman’s fearless journalism has earned him a reputation for in-depth, on-the-ground reporting in some of the world's most dangerous regions.
