Hadi Wibowo is a financial inclusion advocate committed to bringing financial literacy and services to Indonesia’s ‘unbankable’ and a champion of his institution’s philosophy of ‘Do Good, Do Well’. He has over 26 years’ experience in this field within the banking sector, and currently serves as President Director of PT Bank BTPN Syariah Tbk (the sharia subsidiary of PT Bank BTPN Tbk, Indonesia). Hadi’s passion for community empowerment grew when he joined Bank Danamon in 2003 and was introduced to micro banking. He focused more on working for the low-income segment when he moved to Bank BTPN in 2008. Today he is recognized as an intrapreneur within the sector for the initiatives he has spearheaded for marginalized communities. He is known for his promotion of women and low-income women entrepreneurs living in rural areas specifically. In his former position as Head of Branchless Banking, he scaled up both centralized and decentralized banking models to cater for last-mile customers.
Hadi holds a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology. He was instrumental in winning the Best Digital Financial Inclusion Initiative award for the bank and has been nominated for the 2020 Corporate Social Intrapreneurs and World Economic Awards. In 2013, he succeeded in developing the UMK Business and its success story is taught as a business case study on the MBA program at Virginia University.
