Eric Ortega

Global Shaper, Mexico City Hub

Programmes Manager at Global Changemakers.

in 2017 I Co-founded the Young Leaders Initiative “Pequeñas Acciones” to promote peacebuilding with the children of some of the most violent urban slums in Mexico City. This led me to engage with the potential I had as a young changemaker to create positive change. For my work I was selected as one of the 60 young leaders to attend to the Global Youth Summit in Zurich.
After I returned from Zurich I realized I wanted to dedicate my life to working directly as a platform that enabled young people's potential.
My work has always been focused on empowering young people to accomplish their best selfs. I was Campus Director for my university Hult Prize Program for two years and trained over 900 student entrepreneurs. I went deeper in academic entrepreneurship from 2020-2022 working as Program Manager for the Wadhwani Entrepreneurship Program where I was directly responsable for the enrollment of universities and overall M&E for the students that went through our Lean Metodology Courses. During my time at Wadhwani I managed large groups of university students, training over 5000 college students in all over México, Perú, Chile and Colombia.
Since 2022 I joined the core team of Global Changemakers, an organization focused on supporting youth-led initiatives through education, funding and training across the planet. Reaching 180 countries, with a network of +1200 changemakers and +500 projects funded, at Global Changemakers I lead our changemaker online school (with courses on project management, facilitation, MSRH and Ecology) and our grant funding program.
