Elena Kuzmin

Postdoctoral Fellow, McGill University

Elena Kuzmin received her Ph.D. in June 2016 from the Department of Molecular Genetics, University of Toronto, where she was supervised by Profs. Charlie Boone and Brenda Andrews. She studied the relationship between genotype and phenotype by systematically mapping complex genetic interactions involving three genes. Using the budding yeast model system she mapped the global architecture of the trigenic interaction space and dissected the evolutionary trajectories of duplicated genes. In her postdoctoral studies under the supervision of Prof. Morag Park at the Goodman Cancer Research Centre, McGill University, she was interested in translating her knowledge of complex genetic interactions to a current challenge in human health and disease. She has been studying the evolution of large copy number variants in triple negative breast cancer by integrating genomic and functional genomic approaches.
