David Bach has been appointed as the next President of IMD (Institute of Management Development), effective September 1, 2024. Bach is currently the Dean of Innovation and Programs at IMD and holds the Rio Tinto Chair in Stakeholder Engagement. His appointment follows an international search and unanimous selection by the IMD Supervisory Board.
Bach has an impressive academic and administrative background. He earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University and a PhD in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. He started his career at IE Business School in Madrid, where he served as a professor and later as the Dean of Programs. He was recognized as one of the "world’s best 40-under-40 business school professors" by Poets&Quants for his innovative teaching methods and focus on the intersection of business and politics.
In 2012, Bach joined the Yale School of Management as Senior Associate Dean and later became Deputy Dean for Executive Programs. He was instrumental in the expansion of Yale’s degree programs and the establishment of Yale Center Beijing. Bach joined IMD in 2020, where he continued to influence executive education through his leadership and teaching.
His strategic vision and innovative approach are expected to drive IMD’s future growth and impact in executive education and thought leadership.
