Cody Pope

Senior Producer, Circle of Blue

Cody Pope is a geopolitical risk expert with a focus on water conflict and the water-food-energy nexus. He has nearly a decade of experience working on the nexus of development, conflict, and conservation and has done work on political risk, policy analysis, and sustainable development for the private sector, governments, and international NGOs. He previously worked as a political risk analyst covering equatorial Africa’s energy and water sector, and sustainable development and conservation in sub-Saharan Africa. At Circle of Blue, Cody has covered water conflict, migration risk, and the geopolitical implications of water scarcity since 2008. Cody has a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University, specializing in international security policy and focusing on conflict resolution. At Columbia he was awarded the AC4 Fellowship, and did extensive research on Congolese mining projects. He also has a dual bachelor’s of science from the University of Michigan. He is fluent in French, and has a working knowledge of Portuguese and Spanish.
