Birgitte Keulen

Senior Climate Advisor, Mobility Department, European Investment Bank

Since 2015 I work at the EIB in the Projects/Mobility department. Since early 2020 I am coordinating the work within the Mobility Department in our journey to become the EU Climate Bank. Before I was coordinator for the Cleaner Transport Facility (CTF) and I appraised and advised on mobility projects in the urban mobility, rail and road sector in- and outside Europe. I am passionate about accelerating the needed transformation in mobility to keep the world a sustainable environment to live in while trying to make it a more just one.
Before I studied at the Technical University in Delft to become the quintessential Dutch engineer that knows how to deal with water in a land largely below sea-level. After that I worked over 10 years as an advisor for large infrastructure projects while I did my law studies at Erasmus, Rotterdam in the evening hours. Mid 2012 I took a sabbatical. I studied economics at a high pace, worked a bit on consultancy jobs, helped start-ups and did an internship with a competition policy firm.
