Wilderlands has developed one of the world's first voluntary biodiversity credits and launched a platform to make it simple for anyone to start protecting nature. The Biological Diversity Unit (BDU) represents a 1 square metre plot of permanently protected and actively managed land of high ecological value projects in Australia. Wilderlands supports four projects in the country, representing over 5 million square metres to protect in the Coorong Lakes, Crowes Lookout, Alleena and Budgerum. Since launching in August 2022, Wilderlands has protected 120,000 square metres of vulnerable ecosystems, with supporters ranging from individuals to large organizations, philanthropists and environmental advisory groups.
