University of the Witwatersrand is an urban university spread over more than 400 hectares which has produced over 100,000 graduates in its 90-year history. It has five faculties, 37 schools, two main libraries and 14 divisional libraries. It has 34 research entities and hosts the country's highest number of National Research Foundation centres of excellence. It is home to four Nobel prize laureates, including Nelson Mandela, and is consistently ranked among the top two universities on the African continent.
