Terraxy is a start-up born out of a research laboratory at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. It focuses on developing solutions to rehabilitate degraded desert lands for agriculture and afforestation purposes. Its patented technologies address the two main problems of growing plants in the desert: the inefficient use of water and the lack of nutrients in poor sandy soils. SandX and CarboSoil enhance irrigation efficiency and soil fertility for the long term, which boosts plant survivability and growth under extremely hot and dry conditions. This solution curtails organic landfilling, facilitates long-term carbon sequestration, and combats desertification and climate change.
