Born, raised and educated in Uganda, I feel excited when my life is benefiting others. I grew up with so much love for agriculture, and after a successful career in Computer Science and Information Technology, I became the Co-founder and Executive Director of NAMPYA FARMERS’ MARKET to contribute to a more vibrant and job-creating agricultural economy. As a product from a distant village in South Central Uganda, I feel fortunate to have interacted with several aged people from different parts of the world, but one thing that am sure about: young people are solely to determine the destiny of Africa. Though trained in Computer Science and Information Technology, my conviction is that Africa’s Youth can bring an Economic Advantage through agriculture. In the year 2014, I opted to found NAMPYA FARMERS’ MARKET to tap the more immediate of potential of out-of-school boys and girls for productive farm employment. With the agricultural potential in Uganda and Africa generally, and by the fact that a rapidly expanding working age population spearheaded the economic transformation that occurred in East Asia and the Pacific between 1965 and1990, am pretty sure of my conviction. Apparently providing a ready market and agronomical support to young farmers in Field Farmer Schools in an out-grower model, am building resilient farming communities in Uganda that are centered around the empowerment of the youth in agriculture for them to be able to meaningfully engage with their local economies through selfemployment and participation in the agricultural sector.
