The Association for Indigenous Women and Peoples of Chad (AFPAT) is based in Chad, in the central African region of the Congo Basin. AFPAT works with indigenous peoples on two programmes: human rights and indigenous peoples' rights; environmental protection through the three Rio Convention frameworks (United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity – UNCBD, United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification – UNCCD, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change – UNFCCC). AFPAT works at the local level and links reality on the ground with international negotiations.
