Senior Specialist for Technology and Jobs, World Bank

Siddhartha Raja is a World Bank Senior Specialist for Technology & Jobs. Siddhartha leads the World Bank's thinking on how technology is reshaping the world of work, focusing on the implications for skills and jobs today and in the future. His goal is to assist governments design policies and programs that get the benefits from technological evolution and adoption to more people through inclusive and efficient labor markets. He is with the World Bank Group's Jobs Group, and has previously worked in the World Bank's ICT Practice managing the policy dialogue and investment programs in Afghanistan, Georgia, Moldova, and Central Asia on broadband connectivity development, ICT-enabled employment, and on using technology for ubiquitous service delivery. Mr. Raja has a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications engineering from the University of Bombay, a master’s degree in infrastructure policy studies from Stanford University, has studied media law and policy at the University of Oxford, and has a doctorate in telecommunications policy from the University of Illinois. He plays the guitar and sings karaoke in his spare time, and when unavoidable, writes in the third person.
