Co-Founder, Igarapé Institute, a think and do tank devoted to using new technologies to tackle global challenges. Co-Founder, SecDev Group, a digital risk firm; and oversees projects in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Advises various UN agencies, the IADB, the World Economic Forum Global Risk Report, the World Bank and McKinseys. Faculty at Singularity University. Fellow, University of Oxford and the Graduate Institute in Geneva. Member: Global Agenda Council on the Future of Cities World Economic Forum; Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime; Know Violence in Childhood Initiative; other international networks. Has given TED talks on fragile cities and solutions to build urban resilience. Research and data visualizations on homicide, arms, and cities have been featured by the BBC, CBC, CNN, FastCompany, Financial Times, Foreign Affairs, New York Times and Wired. Author of seven books, dozens of articles. Named one of the top 100 most influential people working on violence (2013).
