Punit serves as Deputy Chairman of the SAP Supervisory Board and is transitioning into the Chairman role, succeeding co- founder, Hasso Plattner. SAP is the world’s leading enterprise application software company with more than 105,000 employees in 157 countries. It is one of the most valuable companies in Europe and, for the past 16 years, it has been the #1 software company in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
Previously, Punit served as Deloitte Global CEO from 2015 -2022 during which Deloitte experienced a period of exceptional growth across all regions and practice areas. Today, Deloitte is the leading professional services organization in the world, recognized as the strongest and most valuable commercial services brand and one of the best places to work. He retired after 36 years in December 2022 and was named Deloitte Global CEO Emeritus.
In 2023, Brand Finance ranked Punit #6 on their Brand Guardianship Index of the world’s top 100 CEOs. In 2022, Punit was recognized by the Economic Times as “Global Indian of the Year” and the Carnegie Corporation of America as a “Great Immigrant, Great American.” In 2021, the USISPF recognized Punit with its Global Achievement Award and, in 2020, Punit was awarded the Oregon History Makers Medal. Previously, he has been awarded the NACD Directorship 100 award, the Haryana Gaurav Samman and picked as one of the top 25 consultants.
Outside of SAP, he is a member of the Leadership Council of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the International Business Council. In 2022 Punit was appointed to the US-India CEO Forum (an initiative of the US and Indian governments) and appointed to the Council for Inclusive Capitalism steering committee. In February 2023, President Biden appointed Punit to the President’s Export Council, the principal national advisory committee on international trade. He has also served as the Chairman of the United Way Worldwide.
