Formerly: with British Vogue; with political magazine, George; shot portraits for international publications, including Rolling Stone, the New York Times Magazine, Vanity Fair, Esquire, GQ and the Sunday Times Magazine; produced more than 20 covers for Time magazine. 2008, joined New Yorker as Staff Photographer. 2009, teamed up with Human Rights Watch to help celebrate those who fight for equality and justice in countries suppressed by political forces. Creative Director at Large, Center for Civil and Human Rights. 2013, founded The People's Portfolio. Member of the Board, Arts and Culture and Steward, Economic Growth and Social Inclusion Initiative, World Economic Forum. Work has been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, including Matthew Marks Gallery, New York; Howard Greenberg Gallery, New York; Colette Gallery, Paris. Has published four books: Platon’s Republic (2004); Power (2011); China: Through the Looking Glass (2015); Service (2016). Speaker at various events and on television media. Recipient of numerous honours and awards, including: 1st prize, World Press Photo Contest (2007) for Time magazine person of the year cover photo of Vladimir Putin; ASME Awards (2009 and 2010); Peabody Award (2011).
