Faisal Khan

Director, Precision Medicine Lab

Dr Faisal Khan is the Principal Investigator at the NCBC Precision Medicine Lab, which is Pakistan’s federally-funded pilot in precision medicine focusing on oral cancer. Dr Khan’s interdisciplinary and translational research lab started in 2013, and is interested in using cutting-edge genomic and multiomic approaches and in vitro models to solve for a broad of set of challenges: from cancer and infectious diseases to space biology and bioart. Dr Khan is also the Head of the Centre for Genomic Sciences at Rehman Medical Institute and the Director for the Joint Center for Bioeconomy and is responsible for foundational work in building the life sciences ecosystem in the region. He has won several awards both in academia and the industry and has advised the federal and provincial governments on numerous boards and committees on education, science, technology, innovation and the industry. Dr Khan graduated with a Masters and a Doctorate from the University of Oxford (UK) and more recently completed his training in Cancer Biology and Therapeutics at Harvard Medical School (US). In 2019, he was nominated as a Young Global Leader from Pakistan by the World Economic Forum. In 2021, he was appointed as Advisor to the Minister for Science and Technology and IT, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where he designed and developed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Science Agenda launched in 2012.
