Antonia Gawel

Director, Sustainability and Partnerships, Google

Antonia is Global Director of Sustainability & Partnerships with Google. In this capacity, she works to help drive Google's sustainability vision, implementation and forge the required partnerships to deliver on Google's strategic sustainability objectives. Prior to joining Google, she was Head of Climate Change at the World Economic Forum and served as Deputy Director of the Centre for Nature and Climate. Over eight years in this role, she led the launch of major public-private collaborations across climate and circular economy agendas including the First Movers Coalition, the Global Plastics Action Partnership, the Platform for Accelerating the Circular Economy, among others. She has also worked with the International Energy Agency (IEA) as a Senior Energy Technology Policy Analyst, as Deputy Director of Energy and Climate at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and worked in Bhutan as an adviser across the ASEAN region on environment and clean energy. In 2005 she was nominated a Young Canadian Leader for a Sustainability Future by IISD. She holds a Master’s in Environmental Planning, Policy and Regulation from the London School of Economics and a degree in Economics from the University of Toronto.
