Emna Mizouni

Chief Executive Officer, Digital Citizenship

Emna Mizouni, former curator of the Global Shapers' Tunis Hub, is a civil society disruptor driving digital innovation for community empowerment in Tunisia and the broader MENA region. She is the Founder of Carthagina, an organization catalyzing community mobilization for Tunisian heritage preservation and historical digital documentation. She is the Founder of Digital Citizenship, a social impact consultancy empowering women and girls' digital inclusion, while securing safe technological solutions. Emna is an advocate for open knowledge as a community leader in the global Wikimedia Movement with a specific focus on the Tunisian, Arab, and African communities.

As from January 2023, Emna Mizouni is the CEO of Procitizair; a digital communications' growth and impact driven entreprise covering multiple countries.

Emna's contributions to international human rights and Wikipedia earned her recognition as Wikimedian of the Year 2019, the first Arab woman and second African to be awarded. She was also a Roche (Tunisia-Libya) International Women's Day 2020 awardee and a U.S. State Department International Visitors Leadership Program alumnus. She is a Board Member of Access Now and member of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council.

Emna's work covers Tunisia and the rest of the Middle East and Africa where she moved a lot and was able to acquire local knowledge. She's been interviewed by many international media and featured in many documentaries. She has frequently contributed to international conferences and forums across Africa, Europe, and North America. Her commentary has been featured by Reuters, Sky News Arabia, AlJazeera, AlMonitor, The Guardian, CTV News, Raseef22, L'Economiste Maghrebin, MiddleEast Eye, France24, Slate, ARTE, Sweden TT News Agency, RTCI, Plus TV Africa (Nigeria), Laha Magazine, Irish Times, Der Tagesspiegel, and Vice Arabia. She was a radio host focusing on culture and women's contribution to society. Lately she embarked in a new adventure to host her own podcast. Emna divides her time between Tunis and Washington, DC.
