This Architect Says Sustainable Timber Could Be The Future Of Our Cities

As per Daniel Ibañez, Architect, Urbanist and Doctor of Design, Harvard University, sustainable timber is low-impact all the way from the forest to building, including felling, processing and transport. Rather than extracting the timber from an ancient forest, then transporting it from very, very far away, when we refer to sustainable timber, we mean that all those processes have been accounted for and are sustainable, are ecological. Sustainable timber has a much lower carbon footprint than concrete and steel. It performs surprisingly well in fires and earthquakes, and it means buildings can be constructed faster with less waste. Watch the video to learn more.
