They’re juvenile snailfish, 8,336 metres beneath the surface. Beating the previous record for the deepest fish on camera by 158 metres. They were filmed in the Izu-Ogasawara Trench, in the ocean south of Japan by scientists from the University of Western Australia and the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. Their research is part of a 10-year study on the world’s deepest fish. They also captured 2 snailfish at a depth of 8,022 metres making them the deepest fish ever caught.
