May 1997, first elected to Parliament to represent the constituency of Maidenhead. 1999-2010, Member of the Shadow Cabinet, including roles as Shadow Secretary of State for Education and Employment, Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, and Shadow Leader of the House of Commons. 2002-03, first woman Chairman of the Conservative Party. May 2010 – July 2016, Home Secretary. July 2016, became the Leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
