Luis Badesa

Research Associate, Imperial College London

Luis is a Research Associate at Imperial College London, supporting the transition to a net-zero emissions energy system. His research aims to facilitate a cost-effective integration of renewable energies: he develops mathematical models to operate electricity grids and markets efficiently, while guaranteeing that we are able to 'keep the lights on' at all times. His work has been published in the most prestigious journals in the field. Outside of research and education, Luis also has experience as an Energy Consultant within the Business and Investor Advisory unit of Arup, a multinational professional services firm. In his free time, Luis enjoys playing tennis, hiking, and enjoying the rich theatre scene in London (although Covid has put a pause to this hobby for the time being). Luis holds a BSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of Zaragoza (Spain), an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine (US), and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College London (UK).
