Subsequently held positions at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Tourism and Trade and Industry. Director, office for the FTA in Washington DC during the transition. Visiting Professor, Arizona State University. Adjunct Professor, University of Pennsylvania. Formerly: consultant to the presidential campaign of PRI candidate Francisco Labastida Ochoa; until 2006, Chief of the Executive Office of the Governor of Nuevo León. 2000, elected Federal Congressman. 2006, elected Congressman to the Congress of Nuevo León. 2009, re-elected Federal Congressman and concurrently, Chairman, Committee on Economics and Member, Finance and Public Credit. 2012, appointed Deputy Coordinator of Economic Policy. November 2012, appointed Secretary of Economy.
