Associate Professor of Management and Organizations and a Center of Leadership and Ethics Scholar at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Fellow at the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity and Gender in the Social Sciences and Member of the Duke Corporate Education Global Learning Resource Network. Studies diversity and negotiations in organizational settings. In primary area of research, explores social and contextual factors that influence diversity-related perceptions. The three streams of diversity research include: (1) recognition and inference-based processes of leadership, (2) leader behaviour and role congruence, and (3) perceptions of social inequity. In secondary area of research, negotiations, examines various strategies that individuals employ to improve the negotiation process and negotiated outcome. Research has been published or is forthcoming in academic journals and books, such as Academy of Management Journal; Organization Science; Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes; Journal of Applied Psychology; Psychological Science; Journal of Experimental Social Psychology; Journal of Cross Cultural Psychology; Research on Managing Groups and Teams; Group Decision & Negotiation and the Duke Journal of Gender and Public Policy.
